Child Care Facilities

Note: The due date for submission of the childcare reports has been extended to February 1, 2021.

All children in North Carolina must be vaccinated against certain diseases. Immunization records are checked when a child enters a child care facility.

CDC is pleased to offer a new slide deck called “How Your Child Care Program Can Support Immunization.”  This presentation is intended for use by health departments, coalitions, Child Care Resource & Referral agencies, and other organizations that provide training for child care programs at the state and community level. Organizations are invited to customize the presentation with their own slide template, logos and state-specific information.

Every year, all child care facilities are required to report the immunization status of their students.

On-line In-Service Training Course

N.C. Child Care Immunization Course

An online in-service training module that includes voice that covers the following:

• Background on required vaccines and the diseases they protect us from
• Immunization laws regarding child care facilities
• Common questions parents have about vaccines

The course is intended for anyone who wants to know more about immunizations in a child care setting.  It specifically addresses immunization laws regarding child care facilities. 

Format:

Web-based program with voice.  You will need internet connection and speakers.

Contact Hour Credits (CHC’s):

Staff in licensed child care facilities and homes can earn 0.5 CHC’s by:

• Viewing the entire course
• Scoring at least an 80% on the test at the end of the course
• Completing an evaluation of the course
